3 Steps to Connect with Your Pet

Have you ever wished that you could talk to your pets and ask them how they are feeling, whether something hurts, or if they need to tell you something? That little dog or cat who follows you everywhere has a powerful energy field just like you do. What if you could tune in to the energy frequency of your beloved animals and connect closely enough to communicate with them? What messages could you discover and what healing miracles could unfold?

You may not yet be aware of the potential healing power of connecting with your animal companion on a deeper level. Just as you provide physical care and security for your pet, your pet does so much for you by loving you unconditionally. The love that you share can provide the basis for making a connection with them and sending them healing energy. Unconditional love is the basic energy of the universe, and its capacity for healing supersedes the physical laws of nature. In my work as a spiritual teacher and energy healer, I often use the term unified field from the world of physics to describe this supreme energy of the universe—but really, this is love.  And that love is the basis for creating a healing energy connection with your pet.

Follow these 3 steps to begin opening yourself to communication with your pet. The intention is to establish a connection that will permit healing energy to flow to them through you. Feel free to practice this exercise on your pets even if they are not sick or injured. The healing touch will only increase the love you have for each other.

  1. Sit quietly with your pet, with nothing competing for your attention like the TV or other people, and say, “I intend to open all of my chakras for the purpose of hearing what my dog [or cat or any animal friend] has to tell me.”
  2. Simply touch your pet all over, listening carefully at the same time. You may hear words or phrases, or you may sense what your pet is feeling and thinking through your hands and your chakras, especially the third and fourth. Your heart chakra is especially good for communicating with them if you’re an animal lover. The love between you and your pet will open the heart chakra and also begin the healing process for you.
  3. Whether or not you’ve figured out exactly what your pet is trying to reveal, you can still “talk” to them with touch. You’ll always want to use a very gentle caress, and be sure to include the palms of your hands as you do so, which include powerful chakras. Keep in mind that animals are more responsive than humans to touch. This is because they are less blocked than we are.

There are two important related points: First, when you pet an animal, it creates a hormone in your body and enhances your nurturing abilities—not only toward them, but also with people. You’ll always want to discipline your pet gently using your voice, not your hands, so as to reinforce your role as their safe protector. Second, just like with a person, when you make a conscious effort to communicate and heal your pet, it automatically heals you, too. As you open your chakras to heal others—of any species—you become healed yourself. That is the beauty of energy medicine.

Your pets live in close proximity to you and share your energy. When you take good care of yourself and nurture your wellness in mind, body and spirit, you also take good care of them, filling your mutual world with healthy, joyful, and balanced energy. Your ability to “talk” to your animal companions and foster their health begins with your own strong connection to the Divine energy that fuels the universe.

3 Steps for Using Chakra Cards to Clear Past Traumas

“Awareness is always the first step to healing.” ~ Deborah King

Are past traumas and buried emotions keeping you trapped? It really is true that what you don’t know can hurt you. Negative thoughts and unprocessed feelings may be hiding in your unconscious mind, affecting your overall health and happiness. In my work as an energy healer and spiritual teacher, I have found these buried thoughts and feelings to be the number one obstacle that keeps people from moving up in consciousness as well as the primary cause of illness. Keep painful experiences buried and they eventually block the healthy flow of energy through your body’s chakra energy system.

Fortunately, it’s never too late to clear out old traumas with energy healing. Blockages in your chakras are caused by traumas that aren’t fully released.  Whether this emotional build-up is recent or twenty years old, the healing process is the same. Resolve the denial of buried thoughts and feelings by becoming more self-aware and getting to know the truth about you.

Telling the truth is an act of love – love for yourself, for your life, and for all those you love. The lies used to hide your truth sit inside you like a time bomb; the sooner you are willing to dismantle the lies, the sooner you can heal. One very effective technique for beginning to recognize your truth is to give yourself a reading with chakra cards. The cards provide you with a personal, specific-to-you message to guide you as you write your truth in a journal.

Here are 3 simple steps for using chakra cards:

  1. Hold the cards in your hand to let them absorb your energy. Shuffle the deck well, fan it out face down and pick a card at random.
  2. Answer the question posed on this card in your journal. Explore and expand your thoughts on the subject, without self-editing. This will help you integrate all the parts of yourself, including what you’ve hidden or repressed, which is the first step in healing both your psyche and your body.
  3. Note the color on the card you are using. The cards are color-coded to correspond to the 7 major energy centers, chakras, in the body. This will help focus your energy on the areas that are most in need of healing. The cards offer suggestions for rebalancing that chakra.

Used in conjunction with the chakra cards, your journal can become a powerful tool to enhance self-discovery. Be completely truthful in your journal. Say it like it is. If you are angry, be angry. The point is to be authentic. When you can trust yourself to be truthful on the pages of your journal, you can trust yourself to be truthful in the world. Just watch how your whole body relaxes as you express your truth. You’ve given yourself permission to be you – to speak your mind, to give voice to the truth of who you are.

The act of expressing your deepest thoughts and feelings – your desires and regrets, your fears and insecurities, your joys and your heartbreaks is not always easy but truly vital for your wellbeing.  As you bring these issues to the surface, they lose their power over you and open up space for you to create the life of your dreams. When you write about your emotions, it releases them from your body and prevents them from creating distortions and blockages in your chakras.

Thousands of years ago, the great philosophers advised us to “know thyself.” And it’s so true. The secrets we keep and the lies we tell ourselves create all of our illness and unhappiness. To know yourself, you must constantly be in the mind-set of self-reflection to figure out how you feel about all that has happened to you in the past and everything that is happening to you right now. You’ll start to be in touch with your feelings moment to moment and keep your energy flowing freely.

Discover more about the Secrets of Chakra Wisdom and using chakra cards to heal past traumas, build lasting relationships, break through financial blockages, unleash creativity and achieve your goals on an abundant and energetic level.

Using a Pendulum to Tune-Up Your Chakras

One of the most remarkable tools of energy healing is the pendulum. If you think of a pendulum as the hypnotist’s pocket watch swinging back and forth or the driving mechanism of a grandfather clock, you have part of the picture. A pendulum is simply a weight suspended from a fixed point so it can move freely—back and forth or around and around.

In energy healing, this small, symmetrical object hanging by a cord can be used to increase your sensitivity to energy flow by acting as an amplifier, helping you access the unified field, as well as your higher self. A pendulum can help you find the location of a chakra energy center and check its healthy activity level.

When you’re first learning to use a pendulum, I recommend one made of wood (preferably beechwood) with a conical shape. This will be best for giving you the information you’re looking for from chakras without distortions. Carry your new pendulum around with you for a few days in a little pouch or your pocket so it begins to resonate with your energy. The first step in using your pendulum is to bless it. You’ll want to do this before each use. For example, you

might ask for your higher self and all the higher beings that are prepared to assist you to influence the movement of the pendulum as you work. It is the movement of the pendulum that will guide you to the information you seek, so you will want to be sure you are open and available to assistance both from your own higher self and your spirit guides.

When you’re ready, your pendulum can provide valuable feedback for good health when you use it to check chakras, which are focal points of energy in the human energy field. The pendulum amplifies energy and can help you locate and gain information about the chakra’s functioning. Here’s where the chakras are located:

  • First Chakra – at the base of the spine
  • Second Chakra – halfway between the first chakra and the waist
  • Third Chakra – halfway between the navel and the breastbone
  • Fourth Chakra – in the center of the chest
  • Fifth Chakra – in the middle of the throat
  • Sixth Chakra – between the eyebrows
  • Seventh Chakra – at the top of the head

Begin by having your subject lie down on her back, on a surface at the best height for you to stand in a straight and comfortable posture beside her. Kitchen counters are ideal! With your posture straight and your arm extended a little forward from your body, suspend the pendulum over each energy center, about four inches above the chakras. As the pendulum starts to move, note the direction of its movement. Is it clockwise, counterclockwise, elliptical (irregular), or not moving at all? Write this down, and then move up to the next chakra.

Here are a few ways to interpret the meaning of the pendulum’s movements:

  1. Clockwise movement indicates that the chakra is open and the feelings governed by it are well balanced and full.
  2. Counterclockwise movement indicates possible blocked energy or negative experiences with the feelings related to that chakra. Whether the circle is larger or smaller also tells you whether the energy is flowing nicely or restricted.
  3. An elliptical swing indicates a right- or left-side imbalance of energy flow in the body, perhaps due to overusing either the right masculine side or the left nurturing side.

But what if there is no movement at all? This might indicate that you’re holding the pendulum above the wrong place on the body. If you try again and are sure you are in the correct location, it can indicate that blockage is present.

The size of the chakra is not the size of the circle that the pendulum makes; rather, the size of the pendulum’s circle is a function of your energy field combined with both that of the pendulum and the subject.

It’s important to remember that the health of your own energy field has a direct impact on your effectiveness in reading the other person’s energy centers. Don’t be discouraged when you first begin, if you find that you can’t even figure out where the chakras are. Practice, practice, practice. It won’t be long before you’ll start to see results.

Give Yourself a Good Vibrations Tune-Up: Clear & Balance Your Chakras for a Vibrant New Year

Are you taking a quiet moment about now to dream this New Year? Will 2016 bring renewed health and happiness? Will you do all you can to feel great and get yourself together mentally, physically and spiritually? New beginnings are beautiful and a true gift from our Divine source as we let the past go and embrace the future. If you are looking for a great way to start fresh for a healthy New Year, consider what you can learn by tuning in to your miraculous body.

All aspects of your well-being depend on the smooth flow of energy. Your body wants to feel great and will welcome your efforts to listen in and receive its messages.  You can give yourself a good vibrations tune-up by checking your body’s energy field, making sure that your chakras, the vital energy centers of your body, are clear and balanced. When unencumbered and spinning freely in the right direction, your chakras move energy between your personal field and the energy field of the universe.  As a spiritual teacher and energy healer, I know how deeply the energy centered in your chakras can affect your entire being.

What are some of the messages your chakras might reveal? The seven main chakras, the energy centers that run from the base of your spine to the top of your head, contain secrets about the condition of your body and why you feel the way you do.

Want to feel great? Give yourself a good vibrations tune-up by checking in with your personal energy centers:

  1. First Chakra – The first chakra, located at the base of your spine, is your root or base chakra and the foundation of your physical health. Signs that your first chakra needs attention are low energy, feelings of being ungrounded and disoriented, excessive fears, and a tendency to get sick often. You feel unsafe in the world.
  2. Second Chakra – The second chakra, located midway between your first chakra and your waistline, is the sacral or sexual chakra and the seat of your emotional body. When your second chakra needs attention, you may have issues with addictions, sexual dysfunction, feelings of abandonment and loneliness. You feel shame.
  3. Third Chakra – The third chakra, or solar plexus chakra is situated halfway between your navel and your breastbone. It is the seat of your mental body where you identify with your ego, self-esteem, and personal power. Third chakra problems may include feelings of anger, resentment, and jealousy as well as a need to control others and events. You feel others are to blame.
  4. Fourth Chakra – The fourth or heart chakra, right in the center of your chest, is the place where you connect with compassion, love, understanding, and care (including love and appreciation for yourself). When your fourth chakra needs attention, you may experience heart-related health problems or feelings of betrayal by loved ones, fear of love, or reluctance to forgive yourself or others. You feel unloved.
  5. Fifth Chakra – The fifth chakra, or throat chakra, is right in the center of your throat and is the seat of communication and self-expression, your unique voice. Problems with the fifth chakra are connected with the throat area and your capacity for expressing your thoughts and feelings freely and honestly. You may be chronically hoarse and have frequent sore throats and sinus problems. You feel unheard.
  6. Sixth Chakra – Your sixth chakra is your third eye chakra, located in the center of your forehead. It enables you to see, intuit, sense and discern. If your sixth chakra is blocked or unbalanced, you may have headaches and eye problems. You may be ignoring your inner guidance, denying what’s true, or anticipating negative outcomes. You feel unable or unwilling to see truth.
  7. Seventh Chakra – Your seventh chakra is right at the very top of your head and is the seat of your connection to Spirit, prayer, meditation, devotion, and faith. Unless your seventh chakra is balanced and open, it may be hard for you to trust your higher power, accept past losses, feel blessed and connected to a loving and supportive universe. You feel disconnected from Spirit.

Exploring your chakras to see if they are balanced and free of negative energy is a great way to begin your healthy New Year. Renewed health and vigor are the natural results of balanced energy systems and a great New Year’s gift you can give to your spirit.

To discover the Secrets of Chakra Wisdom – the chakras hold the key to unlocking everything you desire in your life including better health, more energy to do what you love, more fulfilling relationships and greater abundance. You do have the power within to live the life you dream of… and it all starts with clearing and balancing your chakras.

3 Ways to Stay Healthy During the Fall Season

Once the Halloween candy disappears from the supermarket, is it safe to go shopping again? Will stems of Brussels sprouts and bunches of spinach tied with festive ribbons now fill the stores to help ease you into healthy holiday mode? Chances are the consumer economy won’t be helping out much with your wellness challenges in the weeks ahead. There are lots of reasons why you may feel that your diet, your fitness, your energy, and your sanity are under attack at year-end. What can you do to keep yourself whole and thriving as you move toward the season of celebration?

While it’s important to guard and cherish your good health in every season, the year-end holidays can add extra strain to your physical and spiritual resources.  Fears and worries can block the healthy flow of energy and set you up for a negative experience. What if there are too many expectations placed upon you—your own or other people’s? What if you allow self-sabotaging and self-destructive behaviors to take over? What if bad memories and feelings from the past intrude? Believing that you have what you need to overcome these fears makes all the difference. As an energy healer and spiritual teacher, I know you have what it takes. Begin by looking within. Get in touch with your body’s wisdom, and position yourself for wellbeing.

You can get out of your head and begin listening to the wisdom of your body by planting your feet on the ground. It sounds like a simple step, but I guarantee it’s a very powerful one. Being grounded connects you with the energy of the earth and helps bring your first chakra into balance. When you are grounded, you will actually be able to feel your emotions and allow them to flow through you, rather than burying them in your body with potentially unhappy consequences. Your legs and feet root you to the earth. Roots, like the roots of a tree, move deeply into the earth for support and connection and bring up nourishment. Your solid foundation of health depends on both support and nourishment from Mother Earth. Learn how to get grounded even when it’s cold outside here.

Another important aspect of staying healthy under any circumstances, is spending time in the here and now—present moment awareness. At year-end when memories of past experience tend to be especially strong, you can support your wellness by staying in the moment. If you’ve lost that loving feeling when it comes to the holidays, wouldn’t it be wonderful to reawaken some joy? What if you used present moment awareness to build a new batch of memories that feel good and enhance your sense of wellbeing? Your body likes to live one moment at a time. You can’t help but feel healthy when you take time to be present. One place that will put you in the present moment is spending time outdoors. Step outside for a break whenever you can. Breathe, look, and listen to the natural world around you. There might be some special sight to catch your eye and your heart—a rosy sunset, a bird silhouetted on a bare branch, a winter flower. You’ll find yourself feeling grounded and present—two excellent recipes for health and wellness.

You can also use these affirmations to keep the vibration of good health resonating in your body:

  • I have perfect health.
  • I give my body love and respect and all the rest it needs.
  • I listen to the messages that come from my body.
  • I get my mind out of the way and allow my body to create optimal health.
  • I do everything I can to help my body maintain perfect health.

Feeling well and keeping the energy of your body flowing freely gives you the platform you need for living your life and enjoying all the good experiences ahead. As the holiday season approaches, your wellness keeps you open to the spiritual fulfillment that celebration is all about. When you celebrate, you are honoring, giving thanks for, loving, and praising the gift of life. Enjoy the blessings of the spirit this season by taking good care of yourself.

Champions of the Seventh Chakra

What do you think of when you hear the word “champion”? Someone who rescues another from a burning building or dives into the water to help a struggling swimmer? Performing brave deeds is one form of being a champion but there’s another kind of champion too, one whose help is needed all the time just about everywhere. These are the Champions of the Seventh Chakra.  They are people you know in today’s world, using their special gifts and talents to help others on a global scale.

I call them “Seventh Chakra” champions because their ability to do the work they do comes from their “open” seventh energy centers. The seventh chakra energy center at the top of the head is called the “crown chakra.” It’s your connection with Spirit, your Higher Power, and the Universe. This energy center opens outward and upward, pulling light energy in from above and flooding you with an experience of transcendence. You are no longer merely human when this center of energy is awakened; an enormous power lights up your consciousness.

A person with an open seventh chakra energy center is a beautiful sight to behold. Let me describe some of my nominees for the league of “Seventh Chakra Champions:”

Someone with a truly integrated seventh chakra is 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. President Carter and his wife Rosalynn founded the nonprofit Carter Center whose mission is to prevent disease, defend human rights, resolve conflicts, and ease poverty around the world. Habitat for Humanity, which builds low-income housing, is a special cause for President and Mrs. Carter. Beyond raising money, they have hammered nails for Habitat with their own hands. In 2002, Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his international work as a peacemaker and humanitarian.  He cites his spiritual faith as the inspiration for his mission to help all God’s children obtain food, shelter, health care, and a chance to live in peace.

If you were the richest couple in the world, what would you do? Here’s another team of Seventh Chakra Champions who are using their power to serve and heal. Bill Gates’ fascination with computers led him to co-found software giant Microsoft.  Today, he and his wife use their wealth to fund the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which works to advance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty around the world. Bill and Melinda Gates encourage other super wealthy people to sign the Giving Pledge and agree to give 50 percent of their money to charity.  They are credited with giving away billions and saving an untold number of lives. They also affirm that extreme wealth isn’t required to look at the world with openness and caring and do what you can do.

If you look forward to watching The Ellen DeGeneres Show and enjoy her good-natured, humorous antics, you may recognize that Ellen is another of our “Seventh Chakra Champions.” She uses the power of her personality and her role as a TV talk show host to encourage tolerance, kindness, and giving. Among the causes she has supported are: Susan G. Komen for the Cure (breast cancer awareness), “Be Kind” (anti-bullying), The Humane Society, Feeding America, Children’s Health Fund, The Gentle Barn (home for abused animals), and many others.

Each of these “champions” embodies the kind of connection to Source that can empower anyone to work for the greater good. An open seventh chakra helps you build this connection. Each day, you can invite spiritual growth and welcome the divine into your life through prayer, meditation, or communion with nature. If you wonder whether your seventh chakra is open, ask yourself the following questions:

Do I trust that I am safe and connected to a universe that wants to support me?

Do I have a ritual that connects me with my God or with nature?

Do I have a sense of joy that comes from my purpose in the world?

Can I imagine myself connected to everyone and everything?

Energy healing opened the door for me to realize my true purpose, and today I serve as a Master Energy Healer. However you hope to serve, whatever you dream of pursuing, energy healing provides access to your higher self, where all your answers reside.

Do You Know Your Life’s Purpose?

You might not consciously remember, but before you incarnated into your current physical body, your soul made a plan for your life here on Earth, your life purpose. There are lessons you must learn in each lifetime to keep you evolving, and your spirit builds blueprints for the best ways to learn and benefit from those lessons so you can get the most out of your time here. The question is: are you following your soul’s plan and living your true life purpose?

Do You Feel Fulfilled?

When you are living in alignment with your soul’s plan, you feel more at peace with yourself and your place in this world. One of the biggest sources of negative emotions and blocked chakras for students who come to my energy healing courses and workshops has to do with feeling a lack of purpose in their lives, a nagging sense of dissatisfaction with the way they spend their days. Many times they are stuck in positions they were pressured into, or took for someone else rather than themselves. They feel out of place and unfulfilled. They are mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually drained. Does that sound like you?

I know this feeling well, as it plagued me for the years I pursued a law career until I found and accepted my true calling as an energy healer and spiritual teacher. Once I shifted my focus to be in better alignment with my soul’s plan, things just locked into place. Not only did my new career in energy medicine take off, but my entire being was uplifted.

If you feel trapped, frustrated, bored, or generally uninspired, and have consistently felt that way for a while, it may be time to admit that you are not doing what you are meant to do. You don’t want to wait until the negative emotions negatively affect your chakras and wreak havoc on your energy field and body. Living your life purpose is more than just being happy; it is important for your health.

“See” Beyond

In order to live out your soul’s design for your life, you have to first discover what it is, which you can do by clearing, charging, and expanding your sixth chakra. Your sixth chakra is also called your third eye chakra because it governs what you “see” in all its forms: physical sight, memory, imagination, perception, thought, and intuition. This chakra is the center for wisdom and the seat of psychic gifts, and when it is expanded, you can “see” beyond your basic five senses, and even beyond the physical realm, and gain access to all the information stored in the universal field from the past, present, and future. With this expanded consciousness and valuable guidance from higher planes, you’ll be able to see what is most important for you and your life, and make choices that lead you down the path you were meant to take.

Meet Your Higher Self

A healthy sixth chakra also opens the doors of communication to your higher self, where your soul contract is “on file,” so to speak. Your higher self is always aware of your soul’s purpose, but it may not be as clear to your personality once you are on the physical plane. Energy healing can help you clear the necessary baggage from your sixth chakra so you can connect with your higher self and access the blueprints your spirit laid out. When you know you are building on the right foundation, you can feel confident that you are making the right choices.

Here are a few ways to help clear, charge, and balance your third eye chakra so you can discover your life purpose.

1. Listen to your inner voice.

Usually your inner voice is from your spirit guides or your higher self, and either way, it’s worth listening to! The gentle—or perhaps insistent—nudging to get you to follow your passion or escape a miserable job is most likely an attempt to get you back on track, to guide you toward the path you are supposed to be traveling in this life. Whatever you are meant to do in this body at this time, your higher self and spirit guides know what it is, and will never steer you wrong. Energy medicine techniques like journaling and meditation are a great way to release your emotions and quiet your mind to allow space for your wise inner voice to speak up.

2. Visualize.

Since the sixth chakra is all about imagery, try closing your eyes and visualizing yourself reaching your goals. Picture yourself in your dream career, your dream situation. What does that look like for you? Where do you see yourself in one year, five years, ten years? Really play out the scenarios on the internal screen of your mind. Visualizations help you clarify your goals and give you the confidence to reach them. Visualizations also strengthen your intuitive abilities. Don’t be surprised if you develop a sixth sense like telepathy or clairvoyance as you raise the vibrations of your sixth chakra.

3. Be open.

Being aware of and open to multiple possibilities and outcomes can lead to opportunities you would never have consciously expected, but that your soul knew about all along. If it feels right, don’t be afraid to take a risk. Yes, your soul has a plan, but it may not look exactly like your current one, and if you are too narrow in your expectations, you might miss something amazing. Allowing yourself to see the bigger picture is part of developing your third eye chakra and your intuition, and following your true life path.

Reclaim Your Authentic Life!

Who are you? Take a moment and really think about who you are. Not what you do or your career, not who you are in relation to others in your life, not who your boss or parent or partner thinks you are, but who YOU are deep down inside; the true you, the real you. The “you” you came to this planet to become. Do you know that version of yourself? How often do you let the true you show her face to the world?

Shades of Dishonesty

So often people live their lives in shades of dishonesty. I can’t tell you how many students come to me at healing courses and workshops convinced that they are living as their true selves, but when I probe a little bit, they usually admit what I can already sense in their energy field: there is some piece of themselves they are keeping hidden. This repression nearly always leads to blockages in their fifth chakra, from which all expression comes.

The Fifth Chakra and Authenticity

The fifth or throat chakra rules communication, and when this chakra is distorted, you can have difficulty expressing yourself. This creates a vicious cycle: you don’t express your emotions so they become trapped and create blocks in your throat chakra, which makes it harder to speak and live your truth, which further impairs your energy field and your health. Energy healing can stop this cycle and allow you to release those blocks, express your feelings, and live more authentically.

Many students have throat chakra issues, especially those of us who grew up in a house of secrets. My own throat chakra was blocked for years due to the unspeakable abuse happening behind the façade of my perfect family. I was told who to be and how to feel, and any attempts to be my true self were crushed immediately. I learned to smother my feelings and lie like a champ. Until I found energy medicine and began the work of clearing my chakras through meditation and journaling, I didn’t know what my truth really was. I didn’t know who I really was. Energy healing helped me find my authentic self, and taught me how to present that self to the world.

Have You Repressed the Authentic You?

As a child, were you unable to express your true feelings or told to “keep your mouth shut” or “don’t air the family laundry?” Were you allowed to voice your thoughts and emotions without criticism or ridicule? Was there a secret in your household that no one ever spoke of? Any situation where you were forced to suppress your thoughts or feelings out of fear or shame can lead to a life of continued suppression. The conflict between the internal you and the external you creates a life of baseline unhappiness or even intense depression, which only further obscures your true self.

But it’s not too late! With energy healing, you can start clearing your fifth chakra and finding the true you right now. Working with a spiritual teacher or energy healer directly is the best way to kick-start the process, but in the meantime, here are some steps you can take to help heal your fifth chakra and reclaim your authenticity:

1. Cut the lies, especially to yourself.

Living with lies can make you crazy, and prevents you from being authentic. Obviously, you can’t always say exactly what’s on your mind—there’s no reason to tell your boss you don’t like her haircut, for example—but lies are the biggest obstacle to living authentically, and even the little ones create pockets of negativity in your energy field. Small lies also lead to bigger lies, and then you’re on a slippery slope to a dysfunctional fifth chakra.

Lying to yourself is an especially important habit to eliminate. Justification or rationales count, as it’s those types of disguised lies that are the most damaging, convincing you they are for your own good. But lying about who you are is never for your own good, and standing up for yourself in a tactful manner is part of being the real you in the world. How can you spread the light if you won’t let yours shine?

2. Uncover the real you.

Authenticity comes from aligning with your inner self, so you need to know who that deeper you really is. What are your values and beliefs? What are your strengths and weaknesses, your light and shadow sides? What are your honest desires and goals for the future? Through energy healing and meditation, you can expand your awareness and get in touch with your higher self to receive guidance in these areas. Discovering your truest self is a process, so be gentle and patient, and trust that you’re making progress.

3. Examine your choices.

When you live in line with someone else’s ideas for your life, you take a turn down a path not meant for you. How can you possibly live authentically if you’re traveling someone else’s journey? Once you know the real you, you can check to see if your choices line up with your spirit’s plan.

Ask yourself if there are areas of your life that don’t feel right—that don’t resonate with you on a deep soul level. Is your career something you wanted, or a choice to appease your parents or partner? Did you give up a job you loved to take care of kids or an aging parent and secretly resent it? Do You Love Your Job?

Do you love your job? Now I don’t mean that you love every second of every day of your job, but do you have a career that fulfills you? Do you wish you did?

How much of your time do you spend working? With the nine-to-five work day a thing of the past, the expectation for professions is constant connectivity—that you’ll answer email and take calls at night and on weekends, that you’ll travel and bring projects home. If you’re going to spend so much of your life working, shouldn’t it be at a job that you care about and find fulfilling?

What Is Keeping You from Leaving?

Ideally, your work will also line up with your true soul purpose, but at the very least, your job should never get in the way of you reaching your spiritual goals and living the life you were born to live. If your job is shrinking your soul and squeezing the life out of you, what is keeping you in that position? If you’re in a job you don’t hate, but isn’t feeding you on a deeper level, why do you feel you must stay? Whatever your situation, if you’re not fulfilled in your work, what is stopping you from leaving and pursuing the job that’s right for you? The root answer to this question for most of my students is usually fear or shame creating an imbalanced third chakra.

Your third chakra, or solar plexus chakra, is the seat of your personal power, your will, and your purpose, and when it’s functioning optimally, you will have a strong drive and sense of personal empowerment, which makes it easier to seek what you want in your career. The third chakra is associated with the element of fire because this chakra gets you fired up and ready for action; your personal internal combustion engine propelling you onward and upward. No wonder it’s hard to be in the right career if this chakra is dysfunctional! If you can’t take action to turn your desires into reality, it’s impossible to move toward discovering or attaining your dream job.

Shame Will Always Sell You Short

The biggest obstacle to this upward momentum is shame, which blocks the energy of the solar plexus chakra and traps you in self-sabotaging thoughts of worthlessness, inferiority, and helplessness. Shame focuses on your perceived value and how well you’re doing compared to expectations—others’ as well as your own—and it will always sell you short. Shame and the resulting third chakra distortions can keep you from reaching your true potential and finding your dream job, but you can fight back with energy healing.

Energy medicine clears, charges, and balances your chakras and energy field. A strong third chakra will allow you to overcome inertia and get moving, turning energy into achievement, and giving you the will to free yourself from harmful thoughts and behaviors that limit your ability to succeed.

Here are a few ways to strengthen your third chakra, reduce the influence of fear and shame, and get the career you’ve always wanted!

1. Release the shame.

Shame can almost always be traced back to childhood, when you were admonished for failing to control your natural impulses. Did your parents ever say you should be ashamed of yourself? Were you called fat or stupid, lazy or ugly? Were you made to feel that you weren’t worthy? Do you still hear a voice in your head that says you’re not good enough, that you’ll never be as good as your sister or brother, that you just can’t do anything right? That’s shame, and it prevents you from pursuing your goals.

In energy healing, you do not need to relive or even remember whatever trauma or behavior set up the shame cycle in your life in order to release it. Energy healing courses can teach you the tools you need to process negative emotions, beginning with journaling and meditation, so you can let go of those nasty tapes in your head. Shame creates a gap between the mind and the body. Releasing the shame will free you of any self-sabotaging behavior and allow your newly-healed third chakra to take positive action to move you forward, not just in your career, but in your life.

2. Figure out what you want.

If you’re not yet sure what your dream job is, energy healing can help. As you practice energy medicine, you’ll become more in tune with your higher self, which will help you figure out what professional path to take. You can also try journaling about what you enjoy doing, what your skills are, what your goals are. Take a few online skills and personality tests, talk to family and friends about what they see you doing, and think about what you wanted to be when you grew up. Think outside the box, too. As a twenty-something lawyer, I never would have guessed that I would end up as a writer, energy healer, and spiritual teacher, but here I am. Trust your gut, listen to your guides, and you’ll make the right choices.

3. Take action.

The third chakra is your body’s main power center; it fuels you and creates the vitality you need to be successful. When this chakra is imbalanced, you might be unable to take any steps toward achieving your desires. It can be hard to admit or express your true dreams, much less make any progress toward seeing them come true. But you can change that with a little bit of chakra wisdom.

Your third chakra is all about action, so any act of personal courage will help to strengthen it. This means using the fire of your willpower to propel you into movement, into accomplishing your goal, rather than trying to suppress your desires or divert your energy elsewhere. When your choices are in line with your life plan—including your soul’s plan for a fulfilling career—you harness and direct your energy in the way it was meant to travel, moving you forward on your unique path.

Discover the Secrets of Chakra Wisdom!

What do you want to change in your life?

Are you overwhelmed and looking for more peace? Are you unsure of your future or which life path is right for you? Are you seeking healing, spiritual enlightenment, or deeper satisfaction? Chakras are your secret weapons against living a life full of discontentment, disconnection, and fear. With the wisdom gained through opening these powerful energy centers, you can transform your behaviors and attitude to better live in alignment with your higher self and true soul purpose, and become the light bearer you were meant to be.

The Solution to Your Problems

Nearly everyone is searching for something these days. Many of my students come to me feeling generally underwhelmed with their careers or their relationships or their sense of purpose, and they don’t understand why they just can’t seem to get out of their slump or improve a certain aspect of their life. Others have an illness or injury that refuses to respond to traditional medicine, or something intangible like depression or weight gain or insomnia. Does this sound like you? Whatever particular problem is plaguing you, when you unlock the wisdom of your chakras, you’ll find the key to solving it so you can be on your way to a healthier and happier future.

In Sanskrit, the word chakra means wheel or vortex, and that’s what a chakra is: a spinning wheel or vortex of energy, pulsing and pushing energy in and out between your personal energy field and the universal field that interpenetrates all things. This energy exchange is necessary for your health as that new fresh energy cleans, balances, and nourishes you. Without it, your chakras and your energy field become weakened as does your psyche and body. Healthy chakras keep energy moving, therefore keeping you healthy.

Energetic Nourishment

Think of it this way: your energy field needs nourishment just like your body does, and the universal field provides that necessary food. When your chakras become blocked or distorted, you don’t get enough nourishment from the universal field, and just like when you don’t eat enough good food, your energy plummets, you become mentally foggy, your emotions go haywire, and you can eventually get sick.

Energetic nourishment is especially important because what happens in your energy field is reflected in your body. That’s how energy healing works: when you heal the energy field, you also heal the body. By correcting distortions in your chakras, energy healing can heal anything from headache to heartbreak, from diabetes to a broken ankle, from obesity to cancer. That’s how I was led to energy medicine: a cancer diagnosis that woke me up and helped me discover my true calling as a spiritual teacher.

My First Energy Healing Experience

I was a hard-charging attorney in my twenties, climbing the corporate ladder without regard for my health. I was addicted to the alcohol and pills I’d used to try to bury an abusive childhood, and I suffered from depression, eating disorders, and eventually, cancer. Unwilling to start with invasive treatments, I got permission from my doctors to explore alternative therapies and I had a spontaneous remission at the hands of an energy healer. I felt the cancer leave my body—that’s how powerful the healing experience was for me on that table. For confirmation, my doctor ran some tests, and sure enough, the cancer was gone.

I was so amazed and intrigued, I began studying with shamans, seers, and healers, learning as much as I possibly could about chakras and how energy affects health. The more I learned, the less I was surprised by my remission. Medicine men and women and healers around the globe have been practicing energy healing for centuries, and our early ancestors were in tune with their natural energy healing abilities as well. These healers and spiritual teachers understood that chakras hold the keys to your physical, emotional, and mental well being, and your spiritual growth.

What Happens to an Imbalanced Chakra

There are seven main chakras that roughly follow a line from the base of your spine to the top of your head. Each chakra governs different areas of your life and is connected to different parts of your body. When a chakra is blocked, the arenas corresponding to that chakra will become affected.

For example, the throat chakra is the source of your authenticity, the place from which you speak your truth. If your throat chakra is imbalanced, you may have difficulty speaking your mind and expressing your feelings, and may find that you are easily manipulated by others. If the chakra stays dysfunctional for long enough, physical symptoms like problems with the thyroid, neck, jaw, teeth, gums, or mouth can develop. This is why energy healing is so important—keeping your chakras clear, charged, and balanced is the best way to maintain your health.

The Higher Chakras

There are also the secret higher chakras, starting with the eighth chakra, through which you can gain access to higher planes, psychic abilities, and eventually Source itself. In my thirty years of study and practice I have been led by Spirit to become intimately familiar with these higher chakras through advanced states of meditation, and now I want to pass that knowledge on to you!

I’ve just released a beautiful free 3 video teaching series that contains the best of what I’ve learned about chakras in my three decades as an energy healer, spiritual teacher, and seeker of the light. In the first video lesson you’ll explore the mystical higher spiritual chakras I just mentioned, and how you can begin the process of activating them and moving toward an amazing awakening of spirit. Find Your True Voice – The Secrets of Your Throat Chakra

As we move up the spine and enter the 5th chakra in the throat, we are moving into the more etheric or spiritual energy centers of the human body.

This cobalt blue chakra is basically concerned with communication and is associated with ether or sound. Being the first of the spiritual chakras, it is the portal through which we bring spirit into the physical realm by using sound and communication to voice our own unique expression of spirit. This chakra is the seat of expression.

You can see how the fifth chakra is a link between our inner and outer worlds. We create in the second chakra and then communicate that inner experience out into the world through our fifth chakra; we also communicate our inner desires out into the world to create our lives.

Sound is the rhythmic vibration of molecules of air. So, as we begin to understand the fifth chakra’s qualities of communication and sound, we begin to see the world in terms of vibration—the culmination of all of the activity that has occurred in the previous four chakras. At the level of the fifth chakra, we experience all of the inner workings and goings on of the previous four chakras simply as an overall vibration quality. So when we meet someone, we register them as a vibration. The higher the vibration, the more harmonious the person is within themselves.

All vibrations or wave forms are subject to resonance—where vibrations lock into rhythm with each other— the governing principle of the fifth chakra. When something resonates with us, whether it’s a person, an idea, or a piece of music, we experience that person or thing with greater harmony, energy, clarity, joy. Likewise, when we hear something that rings inside us as true, it is resonance at work. Resonance brings order and unity within and creates a much more harmonious state.

This is why I always say that if you want to change the world for the better, meditate more—as meditating will raise your own vibration and consciousness, and that vibration will emanate from you out into the world, where—thanks to resonance—it will influence others’ vibrations to rise to its level as well.

Communication is also subject to resonance. But before we can have resonance with others, we need to have resonance within ourselves. This means living and communicating according to our truth—which brings us to a key theme of the fifth chakra—speaking our truth. From an energy perspective, the throat chakra is THE power center of living from our truth. We do this through voice and through choice—the messengers of the fifth chakra. Choice gives voice to our desires, and, in turn, our voice expresses our choice.

This chakra is also the seat of inner guidance—the place where we have access to that still, quiet, wise voice within that can expertly guide us in any situation we find ourselves in. Our responsibility, of course, is to listen! If we ignore or override that wise inner voice, and if we do that enough, it WILL ultimately stop talking to us. In fact, disregarding our inner guidance will effectively shut down the normal processes of this chakra.

Living according to our truth is a daily practice of checking in with ourselves to hear our truth, including our subtle guidance, and then monitoring ourselves as we interact with the world to make sure we are in alignment with that truth and with higher will.

If the fifth chakra is distorted or shut down, we can have problems with communication. If there is excessive energy in this chakra, someone may talk too much, or too loudly, or in inappropriate ways (such as gossiping or blaming others). A deficient throat chakra could present different issues, such as stuttering or the fear of speaking. Other issues include feeling like we’ve lost the rhythm of life, experiencing an inability to take in what others are trying to give us, or being excessively shy. Still another problem is blocked creativity.

So, what can you do to balance your fifth chakra? Practice journaling as a way to express all your thoughts, feelings, and insights about yourself—a tremendously powerful way to begin expressing your truth. Speaking your truth out loud will also help to clear this energy center. You could also sing: in the shower, in the kitchen, in the car, in public! Chanting works, too.

The rewards of balancing this powerful energy center are more powerful communication, enhanced creativity, and an ease and flow to life.

Yoga and Energy Healing: Friends With Benefits

yoga

Nearly everyday, it seems like there is some new health fad or alternative therapy saying they can help you lose weight fast or detox your system in twenty-four hours or make you happy with a pill. These quick-result claims are usually bogus, and are often actually harmful, because the way you heal yourself is not quickly, but sure and steady like the turtle. Your health is not worth risking for a magical overnight cure, and all true, effective, lasting healing takes some time and effort. But if you want to get the most healing bang for your buck, there is one healing practice that has stood the test of time and is the closest thing to a magical cure you will find: energy healing.

Health Is a Balancing Act

The mind-body-spirit connection has been well established by studies and research that illustrate that your system is a balancing act: each aspect of your being—mind, emotions, body, and soul—affects the other aspects directly. Unprocessed emotional trauma can block your chakras, disrupting your energy flow, and those distortions in your chakras can cause physical illness or injury. Spiritual depression, too, can cause physical depression—an experience you may have gone through before finding the right spiritual path—and physical pain can cause spiritual pain or lack of faith.
Think of each element of your being like a support beam in a house. When one beam cracks or fails, the whole building is weakened and becomes more susceptible to additional problems. You are like that house; when your chakras are blocked or your body is ill or any foundational part of you is somehow not functioning properly, it throws the whole structure—you—out of balance, and leaves you open to further harm.

How Many Ways Is Yoga is Good for You?

This is where energy healing can come in and save the day. As an energy healer and spiritual teacher, I introduce my students to many techniques that clear, charge, and balance their chakras and energy field and therefore heal the rest of them: journaling, meditation, being of service, forgiveness, shamanic breath work, Ayurveda, and many more. Today, I’d like to focus on one technique that is nearly as old as energy medicine itself: yoga.
This ancient Indian practice has soared in popularity, with yoga studios everywhere and yoga clothes as their own fashion trend. This spiritual practice is now done by everyone from celebrities to businessmen to schoolchildren, and most people know at least a pose or two. There have been many studies and plenty of evidence to support the wide range of positive results attributed to yoga that it’s now well known for its myriad health benefits.

healing---yoga

Physically, yoga improves flexibility and muscle strength, aids digestion, helps you sleep better, lowers blood pressure, ups your immune function, decreases pain, and even increases sexual performance! Mentally, yoga helps you focus, releases stress, reduces anxiety, and calms your thoughts. Yoga has also been linked to higher self-esteem, amplified inner strength and power, deeper awareness, and more peace. Plus, it can help you tone your body and lose weight. And this is just the tip of the yoga iceberg!

Yoga’s Spiritual Side

At its core, Yoga is a spiritual practice, passed down from yogis who devoted their lives to spiritual pursuits, and “yokes” the body and the soul energetically, just as does the practice of energy healing. Yoga uses movement or postures, called asanas, to revitalize your nervous system, your circulation, and your flow of prana, positively affecting your personal energy field. Yoga also emphasizes the breath, or pranayama, and uses the breath to move prana in and out from your body during the movements. The asanas and breathing are done together in a specific way to soothe and link your body and mind, clear and balance your chakras, and bring you in touch with Source.

Yoga makes a great complement to your energy medicine practice and any of my healing courses. Yoga is not just about stretching your mind and body, but about really connecting to yourself on a deep spiritual level, grounding you to the Earth and your physicality so that you have roots from which to grow your spirituality, and increasing the flow of energy within you. Yoga and energy healing both strive for harmony and balance, clarity of thought and intention, and a deeper understanding of your higher self.

In its own way, yoga is a type of energy healing, so when you practice yoga and energy healing together, the results will multiply exponentially. They’re like friends with benefits, each helping to boost the effectiveness of the other, and working toward the same goal of healing and transforming your entire being.

forgiveness-energy-healing

4 Reasons to Forgive

Forgiveness is an essential part of healing. When you have suffered a wrong, or even a perceived wrong, the resulting hurt and anger can burrow deep into your heart and energy field and begin to fester. The longer you harbor the resentment and bitterness instead of forgiving the wrong, the higher the chances that those negative feelings will cause discord in your system, creating blocks in your chakras and eventually, physical symptoms and illness. Forgiveness is not easy for anyone. Trust me, I know. It took years of intense personal work through energy healing for me to be able to forgive my father for his abuse, and my mother for her blind eye and cold shoulder. If you have experienced severe betrayal or violence, abandonment or abuse, especially from a trusted family member or caretaker, forgiveness might seem like an impossible feat. It does take courage, but you can do it, and your life will improve a hundred times over once you do.

forgivng--healing--chakras--unblocking

Here are just a few of the reasons to practice forgiveness:

1. Forgiveness makes you feel better. Forgiveness takes the power away from the hurt or wrong and helps you to let it go. As long as you hold on to resentment or anger it can manifest in your life as depression, self-blame, guilt, loss of motivation, revenge fantasies, anxiety, and other emotional and mental issues, as well as physical health problems, especially those related to the heart chakra, including asthma, pneumonia, breast or lung cancer. When you forgive, you take a large step forward in healing yourself. Studies suggest that forgiveness improves the function of the immune system, and research has shown that pain levels decrease when patients forgive inner hurts. This is because forgiveness releases the clouds of darkness those negative emotions create in your field and body, and allows for light energy to fill those holes, which charges and energizes your whole being.

2. Forgiveness is not excusing. I want to make sure you understand that forgiveness is not excusing what someone did to you. There are likely very real betrayals and traumas in your life that are not excusable, and you should not have to feel like you need to minimize what happened to you. What forgiveness does entail is letting go of the residual emotions like resentment, anger, hurt, and bitterness that stem from what happened. Forgiving means you stop feeling hostile, that you let go of any need or desire for revenge or retribution. This is not a weakness; quite the opposite, in fact. It takes a ton of strength and courage to forgive, and if you can manage it, it will speed up your spiritual progress as well as set you free.

3. Guilt impedes your healing process. Guilt is a parasitic emotion. It eats at you from the inside, churning your stomach and making you tense, and not doing you any good. The only potential it has is spurring you to own up to your mistakes as best you can and to learn from them. Then you must move on, which includes forgiving yourself. Self-forgiveness is possibly more important than forgiving others, as you have to live with yourself every second of every day. If you are constantly beating yourself up over past mistakes, that blame and anger can cause blockages in your personal energy field. If you don’t forgive yourself, you put yourself at risk. If you already have a health problem like cancer or another disease, you must remember that it is not your fault! You were working with what you knew at that time, and you cannot control pollutants or genetics or abusers. There is nothing to be gained from wishing you could change the past, and self-blame only does further harm. As a spiritual teacher and energy healer, I encourage students to learn from the disease and then move on by forgiving yourself and letting it go. It is the only way to heal.

4. Forgiveness is for you, not them. The only person who suffers from a grudge is you. Holding onto the desire for revenge, or any other hostile emotion regarding someone who wronged you, doesn’t actually harm them the way you might want it to. In fact, it backfires, and causes you tremendous damage.

When you forgive, you lift a weight off your chest that you probably didn’t realize you were carrying, but you will feel so much lighter and freer once it’s been removed. When I finally realized one day that after years of journaling, meditating prayer, and energy medicine techniques, I no longer felt any hatred or bitterness toward my parents, it was like I was reborn. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and I felt utterly uplifted. You will, too.

If you have tried to forgive and are having trouble releasing your anger or hostility, try journaling about your feelings, which sets them free from your body and energy field and allows for fresh universal energy to fill that space. I also highly recommend you take one of my energy healing courses, which will give you plenty of techniques for processing and releasing your emotions so you can become healthier and happier. Lastly, be patient with yourself. Forgiveness can be very difficult, and can take time. But it is so worth the effort to be able to be free of the chains of guilt and bitterness, and move forward in creating the life you want.

THE HEART CHAKRA: THE CENTER OF YOUR BEING

“There is a light that shines beyond the world, beyond everything, beyond all, beyond the highest heaven. This is the light that shines within your heart.”— Upanishads

The heart chakra IS the heart of the matter.

The fourth of the seven chakras, the heart chakra is located in the center of your chest. There are three chakras below the heart center, which work with the energies of the earth—your ability to stay grounded, to know your body and physical senses, and to work with your sense of self. There are three chakras above the heart center, which work with the energies of the “heavens”—your communication and expression, your “third eye” abilities to connect with the invisible forces around you, and the crown of your connection with Source. And right there in the middle is the heart chakra, which has to mediate between heaven and earth.

The heart chakra is known as Anahata in Sanskrit. The word anahata means “unhurt, un-struck, and unbeaten.” Imagine feeling like nothing can hurt you, nothing negative is coming at you, and you are on top of all situations in your life. Imagine being able to love unconditionally! That is the provenance of the heart chakra.

You don’t have to think of the heart center in Hindu terms. Tibetan Buddhists call this energy center the “heart wheel,” and consider it very important in meditation. When you recite a mantra, first it is heard verbally, then mentally, and finally inside of the heart. Later, the practitioner drops into the central channel at the level of the heart to experience the Yoga of Clear Light.

In Kabbalah, the center of the Tree of Life is associated with the heart region. Christian Kabbalists associate this area with Jesus and with healing. Sufis, the mystics of Islam, talk about the Sirr—the secret, innermost heart of the heart, where Allah manifests his mystery to Himself. In the Chinese system of Qigong, the heart region is call the dantian, the “furnace” that transforms the qi energy into shen, spirit energy.

When you work to clear and balance your fourth chakra, you grow spiritually. It is in the heart that you can come into universal love and dissolve the illusion of separateness. It is here you can heal, both emotionally and physically. It is when you open your heart to love so you can forgive yourself and others, connect deeply to others, rise above the lower emotions of anger, hatred, and envy, and rise to a higher state of consciousness. It is in the heart center that you experience peace and deep inner balance.

A balanced heart chakra is beautiful. It is the center of compassion, altruism, devotion, and the ability to accept that all the circumstances of your life are within the divine order.

However, most of us have built walls around our heart chakra to protect ourselves from getting hurt again. A blocked heart chakra can make you feel defensive, or you may be critical, controlling, withdrawn, or afraid of letting go. You are likely to feel lonely, and think of others as being separate from you. Your life may be full of suffering.

So how can you open your heart and bring that center into balance? Here are 9 ways:

  1. Get out in nature. The color of the heart center is green. Let the green of nature start the process of healing for you.
  2. Before you meditate visualize green light filling and surrounding your heart center.
  3. Allow yourself to receive love, including loving yourself!
  4. Love others unselfishly, not demanding anything in return.
  5. Be thankful. Gratitude is a great way to stop finding fault in everyone around you.
  6. Learn to forgive. A lot of heart chakra blockage is caused by not letting go of past hurts.
  7. Move your body. Try a practice like yoga or tai chi to gently let go of stiffness and open your heart center.
  8. Work with a compassionate and proficient therapist to deal with relationships that need healing and with releasing deep emotional wounds.
  9. Use affirmations such as: “I am loved,” “I give and receive love freely” and “I am connected to everything in the universe.”

As you do the practices and meditations that are designed to help you open your heart, your ability to love grows. You go beyond what we think of as love (the affection and warmth we feel for someone) to unconditional love (love as a force that comes through you and has no attachment) and on to universal love, where you understand that love is the Source of your own being. You will be a more caring and joyous individual.
