Awakening The Root Chakra –
How To Balance the Power of Muladhara To Improve Life

The root chakra, also known by the Sanskrit word “Muladhara,” is the foundation for our total physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It’s important to realize that the chakras do not represent external forces which impose conditions upon us. Instead, look at these vortexes within the human body as reflections of the energy you already have moving through you. By learning how to balance each chakra, we can open ourselves to all sorts of amazing emotions and experiences, while letting go of old blockage that’s been silently holding us back. So, let’s start at the beginning, with the first chakra, also known as your root.

Where is the Root Chakra?

shutterstock_221442409We can’t necessarily see our chakras with the naked eye. But we can “see” them from within, by visualizing various details about them, and pondering what they represent. Keep your mind’s eye open as we discuss the chakra we call the “root.”

Location: This chakra is located at the base of your spine. It is the lowest of all chakras in the body, and for that reason is considered the primary chakra.

Color: The color red is most often associated with this chakra.

Shape: Each of your chakras is best thought of as a glowing ball of softly pulsing light.

When you visualize your first chakra, picture a warm red light in a circular area just below your seat. Focus for a while on the color, just in that spot, then slowly envision that warm red light spreading through your entire body.

What Emotions Does The Root Chakra Reflect?

Each chakra in the body correlates to a particular set of emotions and life issues. By zeroing in on a particular chakra, we are able to thoughtfully examine different parts of our life experience. The first chakra represents many of the most primal and basic parts of our lives, needs, and feelings.

Trust in others/loyalty
Setting boundaries

People who are experiencing blockage in their first chakra often have trouble maintaining basic stability at home and in relationships. Volatile dynamics with partners, difficulty managing money for basic needs, trouble paying the rent, and feeling unsafe and insecure in public are some manifestations.

How Can I Balance Chakra Energy?

None of these conditions are a “life sentence.” If you feel stagnant energy in your first chakra, you are not doomed to a life of unhappiness! In fact, just the opposite. Recognizing where you are blocked is the critical first step towards enhancing powerful flow, in all parts of your life!

Master healer Deborah King won the hearts of readers all over the world with her New York Times best-selling classic “Be Your Own Shaman.” This essential book outlines in exact detail how the energy flowing through us is a reflection of where we’ve been, and the gateway to where we want to go. It’s a must-read for anyone interested in building personal spiritual health, from the root chakra up. Then as you begin to strengthen your spiritual foundation, you can work your way towards all of your chakras, and all of the energy they hold.
